There are thousands of coffee products we could put on this website. We stock a few hundred. Everything that made the cut is here because someone on our team argued for it — and because we can still answer the phone when it breaks.

How we started

2020 was a strange year to open a coffee shop

It was also the year everyone in the country suddenly had to make their own coffee at home — and discovered how hard it was to buy anything decent to do it with. Good grinders meant a three-week wait and a customs headache. Fresh beans from a roaster you’d actually heard of meant knowing someone.

So we started importing what we wanted for ourselves, and kept going when it turned out half of Abu Dhabi wanted the same things. Two shops, a warehouse and sixteen people later, the job hasn’t really changed: find the good stuff, get it here properly, and stand behind it afterwards.

What we believe

Three things we’d argue about

Equipment is not the point

A great grinder makes average coffee taste like average coffee, faster. We’d rather sell someone a modest setup and a bag of something extraordinary than the other way round.

A sale is the start

Anyone can ship a box. The hard part is the call six months later when something stops working. That’s the part we built the business around.

Curation is a service

An endless catalogue is a way of making the customer do the work. Choosing carefully, and being able to explain every choice, is the actual job.

How we choose

What it takes to get on our shelf

Every brand on our brand list cleared these four. Plenty didn’t.

  1. We’ve used it ourselves

    Not a spec sheet, not a trade show demo. On our own bar, long enough to find the annoying parts.

  2. We can service it here

    Parts, know-how and a realistic path to a repair in the UAE. No shipping a machine back to Europe.

  3. The maker answers

    We deal directly with people who pick up the phone when something goes wrong at their end too.

  4. It earns its price

    Expensive is fine. Expensive for the badge is not. There has to be a reason we can say out loud.

You can buy anything here online. But coffee equipment is a thing you should hold first — feel the grinder adjustment, see the cup in your hand, taste before you commit to a kilo.

The people

Sixteen of us, and no call centre

When you email Tajer Coffee, it reaches someone who works here. When you ring about a grinder, you get someone who has taken one apart. That’s not a policy we wrote down — it’s just what a team of sixteen looks like.

We’ll grow. We’d like to stay the kind of place where that’s still true.
