Profitec Drive Overview
The Profitec Drive is a reimagined version of the renowned German-made Pro 700, Profitec’s flagship dual boiler espresso machine. Equipped with an E61 flow control device and enhanced by a new PID controller, the Drive provides precise control over brewing variables while simplifying upkeep with built-in maintenance reminders. Profitec has also streamlined the machine’s design, incorporating sleek new elements that reflect the aesthetic of their other models.
Features and Benefits
The Profitec Drive guarantees power and precision with its dual boilers and dual PID control. Users can independently adjust the temperatures of the 0.75L brew boiler and the 2.0L steam boiler, ensuring excellent thermal stability and steam power. At a maximum steam temperature of 132°C (270°F), the Drive generates an impressive 2 bar of steam pressure. For brewing, it features a whisper-quiet rotary pump and includes Profitec’s E61 flow control device, allowing for variable flow rates from 2.5 to 28.5g/sec for precise espresso extraction.
The updated PID controller offers a host of advanced features to enhance brewing and convenience. In addition to controlling brew and steam temperatures, it allows users to turn off the steam boiler when not needed, saving energy. The programmable pre-infusion feature enables precise control, allowing for a pump run time between 1-10 seconds, followed by a pause of 1-60 seconds before brewing begins. For added convenience, the PID includes maintenance reminders for backflushing and water filter changes, an eco mode, and two programmable wake-up times for each day of the week. Thanks to its rotary pump, the Drive can be connected directly to a water line or run from its 2.8L water reservoir.

Profitec JUMP Overview
The Profitec JUMP is a leap forward in the realm of compact heat exchanger espresso machines. At just 9 inches wide it spares you from having to negotiate a space for it on your countertop. Under the hood however, the JUMP's got big game with a 1.6L stainless steel heat exchange boiler and a convenient multi-position PID switch to rapidly shift between temperatures. With the inclusion of an OLED display for simple programming and shot timing, this machine dares you to underestimate it.
Features and Performance
Thanks to its 1.6L heat exchanger boiler, the JUMP is prepared to brew and steam at a moment's notice. It features the same PID switch found on the Pro 400, meaning that you can easily choose from three different temperature presets, 248°F (120°C), 255.2°F (124°C), and 262.4°F (128°C). Additionally, you can use the switch to trigger the pre-infusion process and to toggle the ECO mode, with your selections confirmed for you on the new OLED display. ECO mode is enabled by default, but you can choose to deactivate it (and reactivate it) as you like.
In most cases we suggest keeping the PID switch in the middle position when brewing espresso and in the far position for an extra boost when steaming milk. The inclusion of spring-loaded joysticks on the JUMP allow you to either throttle steam to your desired pressure or lock-in and go full blast. The steam and hot water knobs along with the brew lever and portafilter handles are all removable by hand for a level of at-home customization not found on most espresso machines.
The JUMP inherits the Pro 400's slim build at just 9 inches wide, 17.6 inches deep, and 14.6 inches tall. The cup tray on top is easily removable to allow you to refill the 2.8-liter water reservoir located at the back of the machine, and the JUMP’s automatic shut-off feature cut power to the boiler when the water level in the reservoir is too low. The programmable ECO mode can also power down the machine to save energy after a set period of inactivity.
Why You Should Get It
If you’re looking for a compact heat exchanger espresso machine that can easily switch from brewing to steaming and back again to keep your mornings running smoothly, the Pro 400 is perfect for you. With multiple temperature presets, optional pre-infusion, and temperature stability from the E61 brew group and stainless steel boiler, the Pro 400 is a beautiful machine that’s built to brew great espresso and stand the test of time.
Profitec Pro 300 Overview
Profitec knows how to impress us. At first sight, the Pro 300 makes a lasting impression with its polished stainless steel exterior. The front panel of the machine sports a steam pressure gauge and Gicar PID controller, which lets us monitor steam pressure and temperature at a glance. The PID reigns in temperature stability to within a degree of the set temperature, and features a convenient shot timer for more precise pulls. The Fast Heat Up means the Pro 300 reaches stable brew temperatures as quickly as possible.
Features and Performance
Right off the bat we're looking at a machine that's easy to use and it's pulling the shots we're out to get. That's a good start.
We like to look a little deeper, so we ran the Pro 300 through testing. Our technicians found remarkably quick warm up times of about 10 minutes, from power-on to brew-ready. We owe this to the brew boiler mounted directly above the brew group, which is passively heated as the machine warms up. If you want, you can switch off the steam boiler to save energy. On that note, steam performance is respectable and the two hole steam tip is perfect for high speed frothing, dispensing high pressure over a wide area.
The all copper and braided stainless steel high-pressure lines on the inside of the machine are a nice touch, as well, owing to Profitec's thoroughly professional engineering. Plus, the vibration pump sits on rubber mounts so the machine stays quiet while brewing.
The Fast Heat Up is a unique heating cycle that overheats the boiler so that it reaches brew temperatures even faster. After a cooling flush, the super-hot water brings the group head and portafilter to temperature which helps to achieve optimal temperature stability.
Why You Should Get It
Overall, if you're looking for a dual-boiler espresso machine and you need value, the Profitec Pro 300 is where you should be looking. It heats up quickly, and it's one of the most powerful espresso machines available for the price.
Profitec Pro 600 Overview
A compelling dual boiler espresso machine with PID temperature control and explosive steaming capabilities, the Profitec Pro 600 with Quick Steam Plus delivers the power and precision you need for delicious espresso and milk beverages. Featuring an avant garde design with outward flared steam and hot water wands cutout panel inserts, this version of the Pro 600 features spring-loaded joystick knobs that earn it the moniker of Quick Steam Plus.
Features and Performance
Incorporating feedback that we provided for the Pro 700 and ECM Synchronika, the Pro 600 has the same incredible steam pressure thanks to the updated PID and safety valve. This means you can expect the same, incredible 2 Bar pressure of steam power. Unique to this version of the Pro 600, the joystick steam and hot water knobs can be throttled for quick and controlled bursts of steam or locked in place for continuous full power frothing.
Both boilers are independently controlled by the PID, insulated, and made from stainless steel. The brew boiler is the same 0.75 liter capacity as the Pro 700 while the steam boiler has a 1 liter capacity.
The Pro 600's Fast Heat Up is a unique heating cycle that overheats the boiler so that it reaches brew temperatures even faster. After a cooling flush, the super-hot water brings the group head and portafilter to temperature which helps to ensure optimal temperature stability.
Just like the Profitec Pro 700 and ECM Synchronika, the Pro 600 is designed to make any kind of maintenance easy to do at home. Lastly, the Pro 600 has a vibration pump and uses a water reservoir only.
Why You Should Get It
From the outside, the housing is constructed of polished stainless steel, and the side cutouts reveal a modern matte black panel. These panels in combination with the distinctively shaped steam and hot water arms make for a stand out addition to any counter top.
Each of the Pro 600’s boilers are temperature regulated by the front facing PID controller, which doubles as a shot timer when a shot is being pulled. For added functionality, the steam boiler can be switched off for use as a single boiler machine.
All of this, combined with the upgraded PID controller make the Pro 600 an incredible dual boiler espresso machine option.
UPDATED FOR JULY 2022
Profitec Pro 800 Overview
For those who admire the charm of old world espresso, the Profitec Pro 800 is a powerful lever-operated machine with all the advantages of modern technology. Ever since we first received it, the Pro 800 has been a permanent fixture in our office, towering above the kitchen counter and pulling shot after shot. It’s seen a lot of use here. We all agree the lever is incredibly satisfying to pull, but the extra level of control over our espresso is what keeps us coming back. For a few moments every morning, we get to be old-time baristas.
Features and Performance
The secret is something that's unique to lever machines like the Pro 800; true low-pressure pre-infusion allowing for softer, more full-bodied shots that are sweeter in flavor. You can do this by pulling the lever to fill the group, applying about 1-1.5 bar from the boiler and lightly soaking the coffee. By carefully lifting the lever, a spring-loaded piston is released, gradually building pressure, and then declining as the lever draws back.
This achieves a sort of pressure profiling that works perfectly to unlock the different flavors in specialty coffee. For added control, the Pro 800 features a Gicar PID controller artfully hidden behind the drip tray to preserve the machine’s classic aesthetic. You'll be able to adjust brew temperature how you like, and keep it there thanks to the stability offered by the PID.
A more subtle feature is how quiet the Pro 800 can be. It's one of the quieter machines we’ve tested, as the pump can only be heard when refilling the boiler through the reservoir. To eliminate noise entirely, the Pro 800 can be plumbed in directly, in which case, water line pressure will fill the boiler in place of the pump. With the Pro 800 plumbed in, you’ll never hear the pump again.
For the 2022 update of this machine, the Pro 800 was given levers to control the steam and hot water valves, making it easier than ever to steam and dispense hot water for Americanos or tea. The updated machine also showcases a pine green background for the pressure gauge, which adds a pop of color without taking away from the classic, timeless look.
There is also an all-new optional ECO-mode. With the ECO-mode, you can program the machine to shut itself down after it sits idle for a certain amount of time.
Why You Should Get It
Standing at a height of about 29 inches, the Pro 800 is best for those with plenty of space to proudly display the machine. We’re confident in saying that you’ll definitely want to, considering our exceptional experience with the machine.
